Ostensibly a humorous romp through all things Italian, from the familiar to the not-so-familiar, there is also a comedic subtext about stereotypes in general, and how we as a culture have gotten hung up on political correctness. The book even incorporates some historical fact into rants about everything from growing up in Italian neighborhoods to the church and school to home decor to becoming a parent and so on. There is a "Guido Credo" for every year that the author has lived: 39. Beyond chapters that are literally dedicated to the chapters of one's Italian upbringing, and enduring the litany of stereotypes, there are hilarious compartments/sections like the unairable episode of COPS: Brooklyn; The Serious Italian's Top 10 Movies vs. The "Cavone" Italian's; going inside a pitch meeting for an Olive Garden commercial; How To Overact at a Wake/Funeral; the "original" script that eventually gave way to the Tony & Tina's Wedding craze (after being "toned down") and much, much more. Chapter titles include "Getting The Boot", "A, E, I, O, U and Why the Fuck Not?" and "In the Name of the Father, Son, and the Stromboli Spirit."
